CAMPBELL COUNTY, TN (SPECIAL TO WLAF)- On Saturday, Scout units Troop 310, Cub Pack 108, Cub Pack 134, and Scouts BSA Troop 311 came together not just as separate troops or packs, but as one community united in service and remembrance.
Scout Jayla Fankem placing a Flag
As the Scouts placed flags beside the graves of our nation’s heroes, we honor the men and women who gave their lives so others could live in freedom. Memorial Day is more than a holiday, it is a solemn reminder that sacrifice has a cost, and that courage, duty, and selfless service are values worth remembering.

For Scouts, this tradition holds special meaning. Scouting teaches us to be trustworthy, loyal, helpful, and reverent. By caring for these graves and ensuring each veteran is remembered, we live out those ideals in a meaningful way. Every flag placed is a sign that their service is not forgotten, and every Scout here today becomes part of a long tradition of honoring those who came before us.

May we carry forward their legacy not only today, but in how we serve our communities and our country throughout our lives.
