CARYVILLE, TN (WLAF)- Going 12 miles an hour over the speed limit was just enough to ping a Caryville Police Officer’s radar. A little before 1am Thursday, a tan Toyota Camry was traveling on old Highway 63 when Officer Therman Pearson was alerted.
At the Rocky Top Shell, the officer conducted a traffic stop on the Camry. The driver was identified as Cody Wilson who allegedly could not produce a driver’s license though he did have an ID card.
Pearson said Wilson showed signs of extreme nervousness, and that’s when Wilson was advised to step out of the car. As the officer spoke with Wilson, he allegedly could see in plain view a red plastic straw in the car. The straw had a white, crystal-like substance on the edge of it, based on the police report.
With the discovery of probable cause, Pearson, with assistance from Sheriff’s Deputy Clinton Hutchinson, searched Wilson’s car. Throughout the car and the car’s trunk, the officers found syringes, clear plastic baggies containing a white flaky substance.
Elsewhere in the traffic stop, Wilson allegedly told police he had just left a friend’s house where they had snorted Meth in the car. Wilson went on to say that he was unaware of the items in his car.
Wilson, 32, of Heck Lane, La Follette was placed under arrest and charged with schedule II Meth possession with intent to manufacture-deliver-sell, manufacture-delivery-sell of schedule I, possession of drug paraphernalia, speeding- 42 in a 30 MPH zone and no driver’s license.
