Workshop today, regular meeting Tue. for City of La Follette

LAFOLLETTE, TN (WLAF)- The La Follette City Council meets today at 5:30 pm for the monthly workshop. The first item to be discussed is the special audit findings from Pugh and Company pertaining to the La Follette Utilities (LUB) audit.

Three bids are to be discussed for acceptance at Tuesday night’s meeting, the regular monthly meeting on Sep. 1. First is the Tennessee Housing Development Agency (THDA) home grant bid for 408 South Indiana Avenue, and next is the bid for repairing/paving city right of way on Nevada Avenue while last is the bid for a guardrail on Depot Street and Claiborne Road. Advertising for bids on striping and sealing the rear parking lot at the LaFollette Municipal Building will also be talked about.

A beer license is slated for discussion. Bradley Smiddy is seeking an event permit for Postmark La Follette.

The fire department has two promotions to be discussed; promoting Daniel Stevens to full-time entry-level fire fighter and promoting Jesse George to full-time entry-level fire fighter.

Ordinance 2026-07 establishing a temporary one-year moratorium on the acceptance of processing and approval of application for new data centers are slated for discussion. Resolution 2026-13 amending the 2026-27 budget and Resolution 2026-14 authorizing the City of LaFollette to participate in PEP Risk Management Pool (Property Conservation) Loss Control Matching Grant Program will be talked about.
