Onalee “Memmie” Brogan

On August 6, 2026, Onalee “Memmie” Brogan peacefully departed this life at LaFollette Medical Center and went home to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Born on July 20, 1939, in Speedwell, Memmie’s journey through life was one marked by love, warmth, and a devotion that radiated through her family and everyone fortunate enough to know her.

Memmie was a loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother—roles she cherished above all else. Time spent with family, especially the laughter and stories shared with her grandchildren, brought her the greatest joy. Her passion in this life was caring deeply for others. She was the steady hand, the soft voice of wisdom, and, above all, the glue that held her family together. In 1957, Onalee graduated Powell Valley High School and became a nurse graduate in 1963. For 47 years, Onalee worked at LaFollettte Medical Center as an operating room nurse. She was a member of Living Hope Church.  

Onalee’s devotion to family is a treasure passed on to those she leaves behind. She is lovingly survived by her daughter, Jackie Spurlock and her devoted husband, Larry; her granddaughter, Jessica Lively and her husband, Jason; her great-grandsons, Sean and Thomas Lively; her niece, Cindy Price, and her husband, Jeff; and her nephew, Rick Brogan.

Though Onalee’s comforting presence will be deeply missed, she is now reunited with those who went before her: her father, Palmer Brogan; her mother, Gennette Cosby Brogan; her beloved brother, Earl Brogan; and her sister-in-law, Lorene Hatfield Brogan.

The family invites loved ones and friends to join in honoring and celebrating Memmie’s remarkable life and the beautiful mark she left on all who knew her once her service details are announced.
