A NOTE FROM THE GRAND ON CENTRAL: “There is so much good going on in our community, and I want to share all this good with you every Monday here on WLAF in hopes that you will start your week in a grand way making each week a Grand Week,” said Olivia Lobertini, owner of The Grand on Central.
LAFOLLETTE, TN (WLAF)- War hero. Leader. A man’s man. The late Tommy Clyde Stiner was all that and more. And he’s sorely missed.
However, Stiner’s legacy lives. The local airport bears his name, The Colonel Tommy C. Stiner Airfield, and the annual Rotary Club’s golf tournament is dedicated in his memory; Tommy C. Stiner Memorial Golf Outing.
Stiner’s name is never very far from lots of folks thoughts especially when the time of year rolls around for the annual Rotary Club’s golf tournament that’s named for him.

“Tom always had a team. He worked so hard in coming up with sponsors. No, one could tell Tom no,” said Regina Blankenship, who has been coordinating the tourney for years, too many years, she’ll tell you without Tom.
The Tommy C. Stiner outing raised $12,000 last year, and what the club does is parlay that into a grant. “We invest $5,000 into a worthy community project, and Rotary International matches our $5,000. It’s way of getting money back into the county,” said Blankenship.
“We’ve been able to make donations of $10,000 to the Boys & Girls Club, the Caryville Cares Playground and most recently, the Children’s Center,” added Blankenship.
The tournament is Wednesday, September 23, 2026, with a 1pm, Tee Time at The Greens at Deerfield. There’ll be a Shotgun Start, and the cost is $400 for a team in this four person scramble. Included are cart fees, green fees, light lunch and drinks.
Eight hundred dollars go to the winning team, 2nd place is $400 and 3rd place $200. Additional prizes will be awarded for the closest to the pin on selected Par 3’s ($50) and Longest Drive on the Selected Par 5 ($100).
Send Team Application to: Reginab1959@icloud.com or mail to Campbell County Rotary- 203 Nance Lane- Jacksboro Tennessee 37757. Entry deadline is Monday, September 21, 2026.
The golf tourney also affords Rotary to provide two scholarships at Campbell County High School and one at Roane State Community College, according to Blankenship. What this tournament needs is more volunteers she points out.
“I miss Tom so much. He was such an inspiration, and boy, did he have connections,” said Blankenship.
