JACKSBORO, TN (WLAF)- Campbell County School Director Charlotte McCoy gave the director’s report to board of education members during Tuesday’s BOE meeting held at the Campbell County Courthouse.

McCoy reported that Summer School had been concluded and the program served 162 students in grades Kindergarten through eighth grade at five locations including Jacksboro Elementary, Jacksboro Middle, Valley View Elementary, LaFollette Middle and Jellico Elementary Schools.

“Of those 162 students, 27 were 3rd graders that were required to attend due to the promotion/retention law,” McCoy said.

During the summer school, 14 bus routes were provided to ensure summer school kids had access to instructional opportunities.

She also reported that maintenance upgrades had been done, including repairs and renovations to the concession restrooms at the Campbell County Football Field and the press box. “The only thing left is the delivery and installation of stalls,” McCoy said.

Updates on secondary education included that Brad Collette was hired as the CCHS principal. She also reported that principals had completed the Leadership Summitt with the district’s Literacy Grant partner TNTP. The summit was held at Jacksboro Middle School and “provided valuable time for leadership development, collaboration, and continued focus on strengthening literacy instruction across the district.”

Career and Technical Education (CTE) updates included mention of the Perkins Reserve Grant of $50,000 which was awarded to Campbell County to purchase a MILO simulator for the criminal justice classes at CCHS.

McCoy also reported that “several CTE teachers have participated in subject area professional development to deepen their knowledge and strengthen their understanding of the subjects they teach.”

She also announced that new special education supervisor Chris Sutphin had been hired and that Mr. Sutphin was a special education teacher at CCHS.

Other items she reported on included that scheduling for the 2026-2027 school year is “well underway, with the majority of student schedules now complete.”

“Technology technicians are imaging laptops to make sure they are ready for students and staff before the start of the school year. All E-rate projects for the 2026-2027 school year have been approved for funding,” McCoy said.

Continuing under the technology update, McCoy also said that “implementation of the district’s advanced firewall is underway and is on schedule to be completed before the start of the school year. “The technology department will begin implementing a more advanced content filtering solution to further enhance network security and student safety,” McCoy said.

Under the safety update, she reported that “schools are completing their annual School Security Assessment that are due to Homeland Security and that schools have submitted their annual Fire & Safety Drill Logs to be submitted to the state in ePlan and that “schools are completing their annual revision of their Emergency Operation Plan to be submitted to the state as well.”

McCoy said that summer feeding was in “full swing” and that Campbell County Schools has the following non-congregate meal pickups.”

Wednesdays from 11:30 am till 12:30 pm at Valley View Elementary

Thursdays from 11:30 till 12:30 pm at Jellico High School and at Campbell County High School for all kids 2 to 18 years of age.
