CAMPBELL COUNTY, TN (WLAF)- A shade after 1:30pm Saturday, Ridgewood Volunteer Firefighters were called to Oak Grove Road near the Anderson County line on a single-vehicle accident with one person pinned in the wreckage.

The SUV was stabilized before the extrication process could begin.

“When we arrived on scene, we found an SUV on its side with one occupant who was pinned inside the unstable vehicle. We worked quickly to assess the occupant and stabilize the SUV,” said RVFD Chief Dylan Roach.

One person was pinned in the wreckage.

Mutual aid from the La Follette Rescue Squad arrived and volunteers with both agencies we were able to extricate the patient. Injuries were unknown aside from visual cuts and bruises, according to the chief.

Oak Grove Road was temporarily closed.

Responders worked continuously to free the patient, and it was very difficult with the vehicle being down an embankment on its side.

The SUV’s momentum was stopped by this tree.

Two occupants were in the vehicle. The passenger was taken to the La Follette Medical Center by Campbell EMS while the driver was transported to a hospital by Anderson EMS.

The Toyota SUV was pulled bank up the embankment and placed upright.
