Calls of a car fire and an ATV wreck were handled

CARYVILLE, TN (WLAF)- Two men are recovering this morning from injuries sustained in an ATV wreck while one person is without his sports car after it burned.

Wednesday at 6pm, a 2008 Chevrolet Corvette caught fire at Mile Marker 136 southbound on I-75. Traffic was forced down to the center shoulder next to a concrete barrier while firefighters with the Caryville Volunteer Fire Department were battling the car fire. The ‘Vette was a total loss. No one was injured. Caryville Police and the Tennessee Highway Patrol also responded.

Traffic on I-75 South was backed up for miles Wednesday evening at firefighters with the Caryville Volunteer Fire Department extinguished a car fire.

Two hours later at 8:05pm, a couple of people on an ATV wrecked on Red Ash Mountain. Campbell County EMS responded and transported the men, who were suffering from injuries, to area hospitals. One was taken to the La Follette Medical Center while another was airlifted to a Knoxville hospital.

A landing zone for the medical helicopter to land was set up at the Caryville ballfield by CVFD firefighters and officers with CPD.
