Violet “Joann” Snodderly of Jacksboro

Violet “Joann” Snodderly of Jacksboro passed away peacefully, surrounded by her family, on April 7, 2026. She was born on October 2, 1938, in Clinton, Tennessee to Rev. Everett and Lucy Hatmaker Gaylor. Joann was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother who dedicated her life to caring for those she loved. Affectionately known as “Mim’ by her family and friends, she will be remembered for her warmth, kindness, and unwavering faith.

She was a charter member of East Jacksboro Baptist Church where she faithfully served for many years. Joann played the piano for over 70 years and was involved in numerous roles within the church, including serving as a deacon’s wife and Sunday School teacher.

In her earlier years, Joann worked as a telephone operator. She later became the bookkeeper for LaFollette Cooling, where she dedicated over 70 years of service.

She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 65 years, Bobby Snodderly; and her brothers, Floyd (Janie) Gaylor and Arnold Ray Gaylor.

She is survived by her daughters, Lisa (Thad) Overbay and Susan (Michael) Wilson; her grandchildren, Caitlin (Jonathan) Riggs, Candace (Tate) McGhee, and Laura (Christian) Moore; and her great-grandchildren, Alora Kay McGhee and River John Riggs. She is also survived by her sister-in-law, Joyce Helen Gaylor, her nieces, and many other cherished family members and friends.

The family will receive friends 5-7 PM Thursday, April 9, 2026 at East Jacksboro Baptist Church with service at 7 PM, Rev. Jimmy Ault, Rev. Johnny Vanover officiating.

Family and friends will meet at 10 AM Friday at Cross-Smith Funeral Home and proceed to Jacksboro Cemetery for 11 AM interment.
