JACKSBORO, TN (WLAF)- As the saying goes, “you always run into someone you know when you go to Walmart”. However, even being wanted by police did not stop Noah Hatfield from going to Walmart last Thursday night.

Hatfield sits in the Campbell County Jail this morning, because he ran into someone he knew at Walmart, an off duty La Follette Police Officer. The officer called Campbell Sheriff’s Corporal Grace Cross, and Cross began her investigation.

The corporal confirmed through Central Dispatch that Hatfield had active warrants out of Campbell County.

Along with Jacksboro Police Officer Amanda Jackson, Cross entered Walmart in search of Hatfield. The officers soon spotted Hatfield and placed him into custody.

Once at the county jail, Hatfield slipped his handcuffs and temporarily escaped. With help from correction officers, Corporal Cross and Officer Jackson, Hatfield was soon back into custody and was booked into the jail without further incident.

Hatfield, 26, of 184 Parrott Lane-Jacksboro, was charged with a violation of probation warrant, escape (felony) and failure to appear (felony). A Feb. 23, court date awaits Hatfield who is being held without bond, according to jail records. (WLAF NEWS PUBLISHED-02/16/2026-6AM)
