Traffic light issues at Lowe’s, El Pueblito and Walgreens intersections can be resolved for $340,000

LAFOLLETTE, TN (WLAF)- On Tuesday afternoon, the LaFollette City Council met for the final meeting of the year. Seven items were on the agenda. One item was removed from the agenda during the meeting.
First were ordinances and resolutions. Resolution 2025-23 authorizing the City of LaFollette to participate in the PEP Risk Management Control Matching Grant Program and Resolution 2025-24 amending the 2025-26 budget. Both items were approved.
In administrative matters, the council approved the bid for a heart monitor from Zoll Medical. The bid was for $51,000. After 34 years of service the council approved the termination of Firefighter Johnny Seal due to job abandonment. Seal has not shown up for work since October.
An engineering design contract and updating traffic signals at Towe String Road, Woodson’s Mall and Cumberland Crossing was approved.
The council approved a $3,000 donation to partner with Rare Earths and the county government on a food drive.
The beer board approved a beer permit application for Norris Lake Wine and Spirits and Lyon’s Liquor Locker and Spirits. Both stores are in the process of opening after receiving their liquor license.
Twenty six beer licenses were renewed beginning with The Back Door Café, Campbell Tobacco and Beer, Corner Market, Zoyal Market, Dolgen Corp/Dollar General Store, El Charro Mexican Grill, El Pueblito, Family Dollar Store, Food City, Food Lion, Ian’s #175, Los Rifles LLC, Main Street Shell, UGO Bargain Barn, LaFollette Shell Gas Station, Narayan Mart, Murphy Oil, Ninja Grill and Sushi, Quick Shop, Quick Stop, Sideline Grille, LLC, Tobacco Mercantile #3, Walgreen Co., Weigel’s Stores Inc., Ian’s #168, and LaFollette Country Club.
