Lenoir City leaves town with two wins over Campbell

JACKSBORO, TN (WLAF)- Campbell County hosted its second home game in a row on Thursday night to open the new basketball season, and the results weren’t quite what they were on Tuesday; wins.

Lenoir City’s vast experience was showcased in the girls game while the height of the Lenoir City Panthers served as quite a challenge in the boys contest.

Preslee Chapman’s 11 points were tops for Campbell while Reagan Davis tallied four, and Taraji Abernathy had three.

Will Croley was tops for the Cougars with 14 points, and Jack Sexton was the other Cougar in double-figures at 12. Hunter Dotson and Caden Heatherly had eight points a piece. Jake Hatmaker’s six, Koalton Cupp’s four and Sam Sexton’s two rounded out the Campbell scoring.

Next week is a holiday tournament week for the Cougars and Lady Cougars. The Lady Cougars play in the Gibbs High School Nexgen Athletics Thanksgiving Classic at Corryton while the Cougars participate in the Elevation-KOC Invitational at Claiborne County High School at Tazewell.

The Lady Cougars play Clinton on Tuesday at 7pm while the Cougars take on South Doyle Wednesday at noon.
