JACKSBORO, TN. (WLAF)- Campbell County’s own Detailed Automotive had the distinct honor of putting the finishing touches on one of the most meaningful custom builds to roll into this year’s Cruisin’ the Coast event — a stunning 1957 Chevrolet roadster originally envisioned by the late Jim Bryant, known across the hot rod and racing community as a true innovator and trendsetter.

The car, a feature vehicle at the weeklong Gulf Coast celebration, was brought to Detailed Automotive for a final polish, professional detailing, and a Borograph 3.0 Ceramic Coating, ensuring the brilliant finish would hold its depth and clarity for years to come.

“This one meant a lot,” said Travis Sweat, owner of Detailed Automotive. “It wasn’t just another detail or coating job — it was about helping preserve a piece of history and fulfilling a vision that meant the world to Jim, his family, and his friends. We were honored to play even a small role in that.”

Bryant, who gained notoriety for building the “World’s Fastest ’57” piloted by Rob Vandergriff, had long envisioned creating a roadster version of the car that made him a legend. Sadly, his health declined before the project could be completed.

But thanks to the dedication of his wife, Vandergriff, and a talented team of craftsmen and friends, that dream became reality. Every line, color, and curve of the new build matched Bryant’s original renderings perfectly — transforming his concept into a moving tribute to his legacy.

When the project neared completion, Vandergriff turned to Detailed Automotive to give the car its final, show-ready glow before it took center stage at Cruisin’ the Coast, one of the largest automotive gatherings in the nation.

“The car looked amazing even before it came to us,” Sweat added. “But the Borograph 3.0 coating really elevated it — giving it that mirror-like finish worthy of a legend like Jim Bryant. To know that our work is now part of his story is something we’ll always be proud of.”

Bryant’s influence reaches far beyond his builds — his passion for performance, innovation, and craftsmanship continues to inspire both veteran builders and the next generation of hot rodders. His roadster, now shining under the Gulf Coast sun, stands as a rolling memorial to that impact.

For Detailed Automotive, it’s another milestone in the growing success story of a local business that’s made a name for itself not only through exceptional detailing and ceramic coating services, but through integrity, precision, and a genuine love for the automotive community.

“Projects like this remind us why we do what we do,” Sweat said. “Every car tells a story. And this one — it tells the story of passion, friendship, and legacy.”
