Sunday night, two separate 18-wheeler collisions happened on the interstate

This was the first of two Sunday night wrecks involving an 18-wheeler.

VASPER, TN (WLAF)- An 18 wheeler crossed from the southbound lanes of I-75 into the northbound lanes and wrecked into another big rig Sunday night.

It was at mile marker 132.6 on the northbound side near the Vasper Bridge. After sunset at 7:46pm, two commercial vehicles wrecked. A white tractor and trailer was traveling south and crossed the median breaking through the median cable dividers and striking another tractor and trailer, according to one official. There were no injuries.

I-75 traffic was bogged down for quite a while Sunday night.

While on the scene of that wreck, just under an hour later, another incident took place. This was at mile marker 131.8 on the northbound side of I-75. The wreck involved another commercial tractor and trailer along with an SUV.

Large aluminum parts were scattered across I-75.

One person in the SUV was injured and entrapped, and first responders with the Ridgewood Volunteer Fire Department extricated the patient. The patient was transported to the La Follette Medical Center by Campbell County EMS.

The commercial tractor and trailer was hauling aluminum parts that weighed up to 2,600 pounds. The parts were knocked loose from the collision and fell onto the interstate.

One person in the SUV was injured and entrapped, and first responders with the Ridgewood Volunteer Fire Department extricated the patient.
