LAFOLLETTE, TN (WLAF)- Several promotions were on the agenda for Tuesday afternoon’s LaFollette City Council regular monthly meeting.Â
The first promotion was Isiah Lawson with the police department to a full time sergeant effective Sept. 6; he has been with the city since 2013. Next was Stephanie Lockwood promoted to dispatch supervisor, effective Sept. 6. Then Brennan Dunlap received a promotion to a full-time sanitation worker, and Brandon Berry becomes a full-time sanitation worker effective Sept. 6. All promotions were approved.
Purchases for city departments were on the agenda as well. The first purchase approved was for bleachers at Liberty Park. The council received a bid for $35,635 from Sturdy Steel, the purchase was approved. The public works department would like to purchase an asphalt hot box for patching. The cost of the box is $45,000 from CMI. The council approved the purchase. The council approved removing a grassy triangle area on Depot Street in preparation for paving.
The police department requested permission to apply for a Tennessee Law Enforcement hiring, training, and recruitment program cost sharing program. Applying for the grant was approved.
Bethany Benjamin has requested an event permit for Rocket Launch at Liberty Park on Oct. 4. City Administrator Stan Foust requested permission from the council to apply for a Blue Cross Blue Shield Grant for $750,000, if awarded the grant will be used for a new splash park. He also requested permission to advertise for a city attorney. All items were approved.
The council approved Resolution 2025-16 amending the 2025-26 budget and Resolution 2025-17 authorizing the city to participate in the PEP Risk Management Pool (Property Conversation) Loss Control Matching Grant Program.
