LAFOLLETTE, TN (WLAF)- Back in September of 1956, the Lafollette Business and Professional Women’s Club celebrated Campbell County’s 150th anniversary.

It was a week long celebration, and all the ladies wore outfits from the 1800s. And for the fellows, who shall we say were volunteered to help, also dressed from the time period.

The gentleman in the above image is Leonard Longmire, a local Lafollette businessman who’s getting ready to drive a surrey for Mrs. Reba Smith in that day’s parade. The image was taken in front of the Piedmont Hotel on North 5th Street, and if you look closely,  you will see the WLAF office and studio in the back ground. (WLAF NEWS PUBLISHED-09/04/2025-6AM)

    1. Libby, Leonard lives on Nevada Ave and my grandmother lived a few doors up the hill. I’m sorry, but I e forgotten your grandmothers name. Leonard was friends with my grandfather, Gene Claiborne. They both had horses. Leonard knew I loved horses, too and he carved a little horse and gave it to me. I still have it. I have some other pictures from that time if you want to contact me
