CAMPBELL COUNTY, TN. (WLAF)- Educators make a difference in students’ lives every day. For many students, having a school employee who cares and goes that extra mile can be the difference in a successful education and graduation. We’ve all had that teacher, or school employee who inspired us or helped in some way. That’s why WLAF and Eagle Tire Pros salute all of our hardworking educators with a weekly feature.
Connie Crutchfield is Eagle Tire Pros Educator of the Week. She teaches Cosmetology at Campbell County High School.

Crutchfield comes from a community in the Valley known as Do-Help-Me-Hollow.
She shared a little about herself and her life.
“I have two daughters. Tiffany who is in the dental field, and Cassie, who has given me five precious grandchildren and one on the way. Josh is my son-in-law whom I love as my own son.â€
Crutchfield graduated from Lincoln Memorial University.
“I have always been a school girl. I love to learn new things. I have been a hairdresser in Campbell County for over 30 years. I have met, loved, and served so many local families,†Crutchfield said.
She said she had many teachers of her own that inspired her along the way, and that June Guy was among those who had shaped her own career.
“One of the greatest people I have met along the way is June Guy. She was the librarian at LaFollette Middle School when I met her. She was the person who inspired me to become a teacher. Mrs. Guy became a special friend. She pushed me to go on and get my cosmetology instructor license. I worked for Tennessee School of Beauty until the job here at the high school came open. My boss was Sharon Ridenour who has become a treasured friend even today,†Crutchfield said.
Her “role model†as a teacher is Janice Craig.
“She was my girls’ first grade teacher. I volunteered in her classroom and watched and admired her. I said, “Someday I want to be a great teacher like her.” She is more than a friend. She is a person I love dearly. She still inspires me today. She is my voice of reason when I need inspiration or teaching strategies. She has a special way with children,†Crutchfield said.

“Working with students and watching them grow†remains a favorite of her job.
“I have had the privilege of working with many students along the way and watching them grow into adults. Some are working in salons in Campbell County, and some are working right here in this building with me. And telling my age, I have students of former students.â€
