A NOTE FROM THE GRAND ON CENTRAL: “There is so much good going on in our community, and I want to share all this good with you every Monday here on WLAF in hopes that you will start your week in a grand way making each week a Grand Week,” said Olivia Lobertini, owner of The Grand on Central.

JACKSBORO, TN (WLAF)- A flyer seen at another car show prompted Mike Anthony to travel from his home at Corryton to the LA Cruizers Car Show on Saturday. “It was a nice day, wasn’t so hot, and I wanted to get the truck out,” said Anthony.

The Pepsi cooler and tool box came with the truck though Mike Anthony bought the pre-1940 bicycle at Friendsville.

He bought his 1940 Chevrolet pick-up truck from a friend who had already restored it. The exchange came after Anthony had been unsuccessful in previous attempts to get his pal to part ways with it. “I’ve had it about five months and keep it in my brand new garage,” said Anthony, a man who remodels houses for a living.

This is an Atlas Blue 1940 Chevy.

“I’m enjoying this show, and I like this show,” said Anthony while sitting under his tent at the LA Cruizers 24th Annual Car Show. It was his first time to Campbell County for a car show.

Ordinarily Anthony’s wife Sherry rides shotgun with him but not Saturday. She had a wedding event to attend. “I just enjoy driving the trucks and having Sherry along,” said Anthony. He also owns a 1968 C-10 Chevrolet truck, that’s custom built, and two Volkswagens.

Mike Anthony drove his Chevy some 50 miles or so from Corryton.

Anthony does a lot of metal work with old cars and stuff. “I just enjoy it,” said Anthony.

Old Blue is a Tennessee Vols fan.

“I’ll likely be back (to another LA Cruizers Car Show),” said Anthony.
