LAFOLLETTE, TN. (WLAF)- LaFollette Police Officer Dillion Marney was dispatched to Main Street Shell at 219 W. Central Avenue on Sat., Aug. 9, around 4 pm, for a female who was slumped over the steering wheel of her vehicle.

When Officer Marney arrived, he found a grey 2021 Chevrolet Spark running with Crystal Deaton in the driver’s seat. The patrolman began speaking with Deaton and noticed that her pupils were pinpoint. She did not have her driver’s license with her but gave police her name and date of birth. After contacting dispatch, Officer Marney learned that Deaton’s driver’s license was suspended, according to a report from the LaFollette Police Department.  Deaton agreed to do a field sobriety test where it was determined she was legally impaired, records said.

Officer Marney then checked for warrants on Christopher Dean Wilhoit, who was in the passenger seat of the vehicle. The check revealed that Wilhoit had an active capias warrant in Campbell County.

After the duo was placed into custody, Officer Marney asked Deaton for consent to search the vehicle, and she agreed. During the search, an orange pill bottle prescribed to Wilhoit was allegedly found in the driver’s door. Inside the pill bottle was two small clear plastic baggies that contained a blue powder substance, one small clear plastic baggie that contained a pink powder substance, and a clear plastic baggie with blue residue, $24 in cash and a clear Meth pipe. According to the report, all of the substances were suspected to be .75  grams of Fentanyl. Behind the passenger’s seat in the storage compartment was a clear broken Meth pipe.  

Campbell County Sheriff’s Deputy Journey Williams was requested for a female search. Once Deputy Williams began her search, Deaton allegedly said she had a Meth pipe in her bra. Deputy Williams recovered a clear glass broken meth pipe with residue. While at the intake booking area and during a strip search, female Corrections Corporal Williams located another clear glass broken meth pipe inside of Deaton’s bra, the report said.

Deaton, 43, 205 South 14th Street, LaFollette, is charged with manufacturing/delivery/sell of schedule I, unlawful drug paraphernalia, driving with suspended/cancelled/revoked, introduction of contraband into penal facility.

Wilhoit, 50, 1512 Loop Road, LaFollette, is charged with failure to provide proof of insurance, driving while revoked/suspended/cancelled w priors, registration expired, possess/sell/deliver/manufacturing schedule II drugs, possession of drug paraphernalia.
