
LAFOLLETTE, TN (WLAF)- This is a look back at the Lafollette Coal, Iron & Railroad Commissary that was located on East Central Avenue between First Street and Big Creek.
It was built in the early 1920s. After being a commissary, the building was used as a furniture and appliance store location, that had several owners and names. In 2006, on Saturday, April 1, ( April Fools Day), the building caught fire while at that time, it served as the warehouse for Treasure House Furniture.
Due to the damage of the building, it was decided to raze the structure, and on April 14, 2008, workers began to bring the building down. It was about a three day operation to bring the buildings down and clean up the lot. (WLAF NEWS PUBLISHED-08/07/2025-6AM)
