In 1968, Stuckey’s moved out, Gamble Motor Company moved in from Jacksboro to Lafollette

LAFOLLETTE, TN (WLAF)- Stuckey’s opened for business in Lafollette in the late 1940s. It was a very popular stop for those traveling Highway 25W. The stores offered their famous pecan rolls, fudge, ice cream and many other goodies.
Stuckey’s also sold Texaco gas and oil.
When I-75 opened between Caryville and Jellico, it wasn’t long until Stuckey’s was gone. The building went up for auction in April 1968. In 1969, the building became the home of Gamble Motors who is still there today in the old Stuckey’s building.
Raise your hand if you were ever in the building when it was Stuckey’s and then as Gamble Motors. I thought some of you had.

It’s worth noting that Gamble Motors has been in the Stuckey’s building more than twice as long as Stuckey’s occupied the structure that sits at the corner of the four lane and South Avenue. (WLAF NEWS PUBLISHED-07/31/2025-6AM)
