LAFOLLETTE, TN (WLAF)- “Turnouts have been great to the Summer Feeding days. Today is a typical day with the line stretching a long way,” said Brandy Gibson, Cafeteria Manager at Valley View Elementary School.

Efficiency abounds at this Valley View Summer Feeding program day as recipients line up early and move through efficiently while Brandy Gibson’s staff doesn’t skip a beat in their distribution.

This is Gibson’s fourth summer working with the Summer Feeding program. “There’s always at least 200 youngsters that come through, and we’ve had as many as 280,” said Gibson.

Loads of food and milk are ready for pick-up on Wednesday morning at Valley View School.

Each child gets enough food for a week; seven breakfasts, seven lunches and seven milks, according to Gibson. Recipients line up on time for the 11:30am start to the distribution, and Gibson’s crew moves everyone through with relative ease.

“We’ll get started back tomorrow getting ready for next week. It’s about a three, four day process to prep everything,” said Gibson.
