LPD traffic stop nets arrest

LAFOLLETTE, TN (WLAF)- LaFollette Police Officer Dillion Marney noticed a vehicle on the last Sunday in May around 9pm traveling westbound on East Central Avenue, near Cumberland Gap Medical, in the right lane failing to maintain its lane. The vehicle crossed over the center dotted lines several times. When Officer Marney edged closer to the vehicle, he ran the license plate through dispatch and discovered the tags were expired.

At this point, Officer Marney stopped the vehicle and spoke with the driver, identified as Travis Scott Nelson, requesting his driver’s license, insurance and proof of insurance. Nelson stated to the patrolman that he didn’t have any of it. Nelson then told Officer Marney that he did not have a license, and that it was either suspended or revoked for a DUI (driving under the influence). LPD Dispatch advised the officer that Nelson’s license was revoked due to a DUI, according to a report from the LaFollette Police Department.

Nelson, 44, 154 Leroy Day Lane, LaFollettewas charged with driving on revoked/suspended/cancelled with prior due to one DUI conviction, driving with expired registration and failure to provide proof of insurance. (WLAF NEWS PUBLISHED-06/02/205-6AM)
