Cougars 52 Clinton 47

JACKSBORO, TN (WLAF)- The Lady Cougars played host to Clinton on Friday night, after defeating the Dragons at Lockard Gymnasium back in December by a score of 50-26.

Clinton, a team which had improved vastly since December, kept the game very close. It was a physical, rough ball game. The two rivals certainly played like ones on Friday. At one point in the game, a double technical was assessed, along with some hard fouls on transition plays.

The Lady Cougars’ physicality and shot making is what won the game on Friday. Carley Kitts hit three critical threes en route to a 14 point night. This, along with Campbell’s defense, allowed the Lady Cougars to win the final game before district play, 52-47.

Carley Kitts, who was the Mills Door and More Player of the Game, led the scoring column with 14 points. Saylor Hutcheson finished right behind Kitts with 13 points. Lacey Pemberton was one point away from double digits; she scored nine. Bella Lester and Jayden Kitts had five points apiece. Preslee Chapman scored four points, and Destiny Rutherford totaled two.

Up next for the Lady Cougars is a Tuesday trip to Hunter Gymnasium at Powell. The Lady Cougars and Lady Panthers tip at 6pm.
