Mac Haynes Crumley Jr., age 80, a lifelong resident of LaFollette, TN, passed away on November 21, 2024.
Mac was born February 4, 1944, in Kalamazoo, Michigan, to Mac Haynes Crumley Sr. and Thelma Sharp Crumley while Mac Sr. was serving in the U.S. Army.
Mac Jr. was a proud graduate of the 1962 class of LaFollette High School. He attended ETSU where he was introduced to Betty Fortner by his best friend Charles Guy. She instantly became the love of his life and they wed in 1965.
After purchasing Norris Craft Boat Company from his dad Mac Sr. in 1972, Mac became a legend in the boating industry by designing one of the first bass boats. His inspiration for the design of the Norris Craft bass boat came from his love of bass fishing and fellow fishing friends. He worked to make his bass boat a very comfortable, efficient and beautiful high-performance boat. Mac also used Norris Craft Boat Company to provide numerous baptistries throughout area churches.
He was a lover of life, a true gentleman, and a defender of all things good in the world. He took great pride in showing his sons, Mac Ray and Richard, his values of kindness, integrity, hard work, and reliability on a daily basis through both his words and deeds. These traits have been a great influence on his beloved grandchildren. His family and many friends were a great joy in his life.
Mac was preceded in death by his parents, his sisters Alice Ray Crumley, Sue Byrd, and Nancy Gail Peters.
He is survived by his wife of 60 years Betty, their children Mac Ray (Bendi) Crumley, Richard (San San) Crumley of Jacksboro, and his beloved grandchildren Mackensi Crumley, Sophie Crumley, Abby Crumley, Mac Roy Crumley of Jacksboro, Sam Arnold and Andy Arnold of Knoxville, Sister: June Ann (Mike) Perkins of Corbin Ky, as well as four nieces. Â He will be deeply missed by his constant companions Daisy and Saidy.
The family wishes to express their deep gratitude for the compassion and kindness provided by caregivers at LaFollette Health and Rehab Center and Tennova LaFollette Hospital.
