LAFOLLETTE, TN (WLAF)- On Thursday evening, the Joint Economic Community Development Board approved payments for several requests made by the Industrial Development Board, which met just prior to the JECDB’s meeting.

JECDB Chairman Jay Willoughby announced the Board received earlier in the day the Audit Report from Pugh, CPAs and the Industrial Development Board has received a clean audit.  Copies of the audit are being emailed to the members and the Board’s recording secretary will be registering a copy with the Register of Deeds for public access.

Under new business, JECDB members approved several requests from the Industrial Development Board, including billing payment of $5,000 for the final Environmental Assessment and property survey for the 232 acres of property adjoining the Collins Industrial Park.

Willoughby also presented the board with a request from the IDB for payment for the audit, board insurance and some additional administrative costs in the amount of $10,000. Willoughby advised the board that it was the “intent of the IDB to reimburse the board for this payment as their revenue stream from the county and other sources come online.” The JECDB unanimously approved the motions for that payment.

Also approved was funding for the tuition costs for one position in the upcoming East Tennessee Regional Leadership Class.

Mark Cain CEO of Tennova LaFollette Medical Center gave a brief presentation on the services provided by the hospital, the financial impact of payroll, property taxes, and investment within the community.  Mr. Cain also shared that the hospital had over 78,000 encounters with patients last year.
