Jacksboro sweeps LaFollette, winning JV girls, varsity girls, and varsity boys contests at the Owls nest

LAFOLLETTE, TN (WLAF)- On Thursday at Jerry Irwin Gymnasium at LaFollette Middle School, cross-county rival Jacksboro swooped in and swooped out with three wins.

First, the JV Lady Eagles took care of the JV Lady Owls.

As for the varsity girls’ game, Jacksboro blitzed out to an 19-3 lead at the end of the first quarter. At halftime, it was 44-3 in favor of the Blue and Gold. When the final horn blew, it was Jacksboro winning 58-8.

Leading in scoring for the Lady Eagles was 8th grader Addy Coleman with 10 points. Every Lady Eagle that stepped foot on Vic King Court scored. Olivia Boucher , Kaylee Albright and Alexa York had seven points a piece. Lacie Hatmaker and Kylie Perkins had six points each. Brooklyn Rutherford tallied five points on the night. Khloe Johnson and Julie Lawson each totaled four points, and Alli Hinch rounded out the scoring with two points.

For the Lady Owls, Taraji Abernathy led her team with four points. Heaven Marlow scored three, and Angelyca Kemp had one point. Abby Rutherford, Brooklyn Hatmaker, Piper Wells, Carlie Baird, Madalyn Cline, Rosi Williams, Mackenzie Longworth, and Piper Peebly all saw action but did not score.

The Lady Eagles advance to 4 and 0 on the season with a trip to Powell up next on the schedule Friday. As for the Lady Owls, they are 0 and 3, still searching for their first victory. LaFollette will host H. Y. Livesay on homecoming next Thursday.

Up next was the Owls versus Eagles contest. Just like in the Lady Eagles game, Jacksboro jumped out to an early lead. At halftime, Jacksboro led LaFollette 26-5. However, the Owls came out of their locker room on fire, outscoring Jacksboro in the third quarter 13-9. However, the Eagles fought back with a run of their own, winning by a score of 44-20.

Tops in scoring for Jacksboro was David Smith with 11 points. Just behind him was Landyn Wagner with 10 points. Point guard Max Stanfill scored eight points. Skyler Moore had six points. Totaling four points was Jerian Smith. Kinden Heatherly scored two points and Braxton McEndree contributed a single point. Tatum Russell saw playing time but did not end up in the scoring column.

Jacksboro extends its winning streak to three. The Eagles are now 3 and 1. As for the Owls, they are 0 and 3.

LaFollette’s Lucas Crisp led them in scoring with five points. Caden Pyle scored four. Chase Suttles, Zeke Stiner, a 6th grader, and Mason Wormsley all scored three a piece, and Colton Terry tallied two points.

The Owls, just like the Lady Owls, are 0 and 3 still longing for their first taste of victory.
