JACKSBORO, TN (WLAF)- Board of education members approved several building and grounds agenda items at Thursday’s meeting. First approved was for the Campbell County High School Outdoor practice facility/weight room renovation project to be split into two projects, with the emphasis being on getting the weight room completed first.
Board of Education chair Jeff Miller said it was made clear at last week’s building and grounds committee meeting that there was an emphasis on “focusing on the weight room repair first.â€
“So, after discussion with the attorney, I’m going to make a motion to separate the two jobs and have the architect focus clearly on getting the weight room off the ground and the bids out and then we will reassess and start the outdoor practice facility soon thereafter,†Miller said.
The CCHS weight room is scheduled to be bid out in the next few weeks.
Other building committee recommendations that were approved included the Jellico High School Football Field Concession/Restroom and remodel/upgrade, The Elk Valley Boys restroom remodel and upgrade, and the CCHS Football Field men’s and women’s restrooms remodel/upgrade. The work will be done by the Campbell County Board of Education Maintenance at an approximate cost of $75,000 for projects. Also approved was for small door awnings for Valley View Elementary at a cost of $1,500 each, and lockers were approved for Elk Valley Elementary School.
It was approved to hire an architect for the CCHS Tennis Project and funding to be appropriated out of the Undesignated Fund Balance. (WLAF NEWS PUBLISHED-10/11/2024-6AM)
