Injuries and snarled traffic took center stage in a 7am wreck under Stop Light 9 this morning

An SUV veered into this truck soon after 7am Tuesday in downtown La Follette, based on camera footage.

LAFOLLETTE, TN (WLAF)- All occupants, a man, woman, two children, were transported to a Knoxville hospital by Campbell EMS from the scene of a morning motor vehicle accident. Not long after sun up, at 7:08, a Ford Edge collided with a Campbell County Highway Department pick-up truck, a Ford, in the eastbound turn lane of East Central Avenue at Indiana Avenue.

Patients are being cared for by first responders on the other side of the SUV.

The pick-up was sitting in the turn lane, facing east at Stop Light 9, when the east bound SUV veered from the passing lane into the truck and then flipped on its top, based on footage from the camera on the Ben Rogers Building. At the 00:29 mark is where the mishap occurs.

The driver of the truck, its lone occupant, was shaken, but OK. A medical helicopter was requested for the injured in the Edge, however, the chopper could not fly due to fog.

The eastbound lanes of East Central Avenue were shutdown with traffic diverted down Beech Street. Westbound travelers were down to the right lane with some west bound traffic using Beech.

Injuries and snarled traffic highlighted this morning accident.

Responding agencies were La Follette Fire, Police and Public Works, Campbell EMS and Sheriff’s Office. The last unit cleared the scene at 8:04am. (WLAF NEWS PUBLISHED – 08/20/2024-8:30AM)
