Household trash/garbage is still being accepted at the Towe String Road Convenience Center

There were no injuries sustained during the battling of the transfer station fire at the Campbell Convenience Center on Sunday afternoon. This photo was snapped before any fire units had arrived.

JACKBSORO, TN (WLAF)- Black smoke billowing into a sunny, blue sky could be seen for miles on Sunday afternoon as the transfer station at the Towe String Road Convenience Center burned. HERE is a related story.

Campbell County Rural Fire Service Firefighters spray the fire from the back side of the transfer station.  Left to right are CCRFS Captain Daniel Lawson, Captain David Carroll and Firefighter Cody Ayers.  It was all hands on deck to battle a Sunday afternoon fire at the Towe String Road Convenience Center. 

The fire was called in at 2pm with the Campbell County Rural Fire Service first on the scene. “As soon as we arrived, I knew we needed more help and called on La Follette and Caryville,” said Daniel Lawson, Captain with the CCRFS.

The scene was not cleared until 6pm.

Crews were at the scene for the better part of four hours. Heavy equipment was needed to move out debris inside the transfer station in order for firefighters to completely extinguish the fire.

This was the sixth call of the day for the CCRFS. Among the calls was a wreck, brush fire, medical and the TSR fire.
