The Pine Mountain Longbeards’ Annual JAKES Day was a “huge success” with “ideal weather”.

The JAKES Day (Juniors Acquiring Knowledge, Ethics and Sportsmanship) program also marked the 23rd anniversary for the Pine Mountain Long Beards Chapter.

The event hosted more than 200 Campbell County kids, along with another couple hundred parents and community volunteers.

No one walked away hungry from JAKES Day as Otis “Big O” Poore and his grill masters grilled 360 hamburgers along with 400 wieners. Other volunteers prepared all the trimmings; tomatoes, lettuce, chili, chips, cookies and drinks.

On this special edition of “Make it a Grand Week”, we take you through JAKES Day in photos showcasing members of our wonderful community coming together for a fun and learning day.
