‘All roads are open, and we’re getting a better handle on it’- Road Super Ron Dilbeck

WLAF News caught up with a road department crew picking up brush out on Demory Road near Cedar Hill Baptist Church.

LAFOLLETTE, TN (WLAF)- “It looks like last Tuesday’s storm just cut a big path, Cedar Creek, Flat and Whitman Hollows, Davis Chapel, Carr Wynn and Water Street near the Claiborne County line,” said Ron Dilbeck, Road Superintendent for Campbell County.

Members of road department crews and residents continue to find stuff like trees lodged in other trees and over power lines, according to Dilbeck.

Demory Road was temporarily down to one lane while a road crew picked up brush on Monday afternoon.

The veteran road superintendent estimates a few more weeks will be needed to completely get back to some sense of normalcy for homeowners where downed trees and debris are concerned. Dilbeck had crews out on and off again all weekend after more trees fell Thursday, Friday and Saturday.

“We had the road blocked by a big tree over it on Cedar Creek Road Thursday night,” said Dilbeck.

Trees landed on other trees around the county.

Three road crews are dedicated to getting trees and other brush cleaned up and hauled away, according to Dilbeck. “Other crews have been able to return to a regular scheduled of mowing and more,” said Dilbeck.

A week after nature cut a path through many, many communities in Campbell County, road crews are on the path that may take a few more weeks to travel. (WLAF NEWS PUBLISHED – 08/06/2024-6AM)
