LAFOLLETTE, TN (SPECIAL TO WLAF)- Volunteers from Lowe’s, LaFollette, will give of their time on Saturday, August 10th to support the renovation of Cary’s Cave, a transitional apartment in the Campbell County Children’s Center. This project is one of 100 community projects in 2024 that make up Lowe’s Hometowns. Launched in 2022, Lowe’s Hometowns is the company’s largest-ever impact program, with a five-year, $100 million commitment from Lowe’s to renovate and rebuild community spaces nationwide.
The Lowe’s Hometowns grant will create a designated kitchen space with extra storage in order for home cooked meals to be prepared on site. It will also provide funding for the resealing of the facility’s parking lot. Cary’s Cave enables children to reside in a homelike setting while awaiting DCS foster care placement. It has been fully utilized over the last several years but there has not been a designated kitchen area to include a stove and refrigerator. Tracie Davis, CEO of the Children’s Center commented, “we are extremely grateful to the employees of our local Lowe’s who are participating in this project. We couldn’t do this without them.”
Lowe’s Hometowns 2024 grants benefit 88 communities in 44 states and Washington, D.C. The 100 projects, selected from consumer nominations, address needs specific to each community, from access to housing and community services to support for first responders and veterans. Each project will receive a grant from Lowe’s to make physical improvements that help local organizations continue to make meaningful impact in their communities. In addition to supporting the 100 grant-funded projects, Lowe’s associates will complete more than 1,700 community revitalization projects as a part of Lowe’s Hometowns.
The Campbell County Children’s Center is partnering with local Lowe’s associates, construction pros and Lowe’s impact partner Points of Light to complete this project.
