KINGSTON, TN (SPECIAL TO WLAF)- Incumbent State Senator Ken Yager, R-Kingston, officially became the Republican nominee for Tennessee Senate District 12 after winning the Republican Primary on Thursday evening. Yager released the following statement after his win. 

“I am humbled and honored by the strong vote of confidence from Republican primary voters in today’s election,” said Yager. “My steadfast commitment to look after my constituents is unchanged.  I look forward to winning the November general election to voice our shared common-sense values in the State Senate. Constituents come first.”

“Tennessee is the best run state in the nation,” Yager continued.  “We have the lowest per capita debt in the nation and no income tax, but there are serious issues we must face in the years ahead such as education, economic development, and substance abuse. It is my hope that we address these and other issues to cultivate a Tennessee that allows families to thrive by ensuring economic opportunities, quality education and safe communities.”

“I was honored during the campaign to be endorsed by virtually all the local elected officials in the district. I pledge to our local leaders to continue our strong relationship and work to find solutions to local problems.”

Yager’s was endorsed by several prominent local, state and federal officials including United States Senator Marsha Blackburn, Governor Bill Lee, United States Congressman Chuck Fleishman, and State Representatives Kelly Keilsing, Ed Butler, and Dennis Powers. Governor Lee praised Yager’s service to Tennessee, calling him “a man of integrity who has worked hard in the General Assembly to cut taxes, create jobs, and expand opportunity for Tennesseans. 

State Senator Ken Yager currently serves Tennessee Senate District 12 consisting of Campbell, Clay, Fentress, Macon, Morgan, Overton, Pickett, Roane and Scott Counties. Yager lives in Kingston, TN with his wife Malinda. They have two grown children.  (WLAF NEWS PUBLISHED – 08/02/2024-6AM)
