Campbell County is in the “slight risk” category for severe weather on Tuesday and Tuesday night

LAFOLLETTE, TN (WLAF)- Tropical-like weather featuring oppressive conditions and the threat of heavy rainfall, damaging wind and flooding persists today into tonight. Temps will top out near 90 with a feels-like reading in the upper 90s.

Multiple rounds of storms are expected through tonight. Some of the storms could be severe with damaging winds as the main concern, in addition to a low-end threat for a brief, spin-up tornado. It is still uncertain when the strongest storms will occur, but the threat exists for this whole timeframe.

Flooding is also possible area-wide due to repeated storms and recent heavy rainfall. A flood watch for flash flooding has been issued for Campbell County and the whole area.

Flash flooding caused by excessive rainfall is possible through late tonight. Excessive runoff may result in flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations. Creeks and streams may rise out of their banks. Low-water crossings may be flooded.

Over the past 24 to 48 hours, many locations have received 2 to 3 inches or more of rainfall. From this morning through tonight, multiple rounds of storms are expected with many locations likely to receive another 1 to 2 inches. Locally higher amounts are possible.
