Cove Lake bridge project will be completed closer to September, according to TDOT officials
CARYVILLE, TN (SPECIAL TO WLAF) – In May, crews with Jones Brothers Contractors began a bridge repair project on SR-9 /Hwy 25W-63 over Cove Lake at Caryville.
This work required lane closures and traffic to be merged into one lane in each direction as the contractor is making the necessary repairs. It’s likely that this week is when the project will change out the lanes that have been closed. Traffic will soon be diverted into the right lanes of the four lane with work on the interior lanes beginning.

The contractor is scheduled to work continuously until the repairs are completed and all lanes are back open. This bridge is on the Caryville side of Cove Lake State Park.

This job was awarded to Jones Bros. Contractors, LLC, for $3,583,751.25, and it includes bridges at log miles 31.35 and 31.79, according to Mark Nagi, TDOT Regional Communications Officer for Region 1.

There’s been work under the bridge decks and on top of the bridges.
The completion date of the contract is Wed., July 31, 2024. However, the project will not meet the original deadline. “That project is taking some more time than anticipated. It looks like it will be completed closer to September,” said Nagi. (WLAF NEWS PUBLISHED – 07/22/2024-6AM-PHOTOS COURTESY OF WLAF’S CHARLIE HUTSON)
