Friday’s second accident near Norris Lake occurred early in the afternoon
LAFOLLETTE, TN (WLAF)- A Friday afternoon of fun ended with two ATV passengers being airlifted to Knoxville hospitals.
An ATV with six passengers onboard was traveling down a golf cart-type path from Lake Drive when it rolled over injuring two of its passengers, an adult female and a child, according to officials. The scene of the wreck was about 50-feet down a steep embankment toward Norris Lake off Lake Drive.
One patient was closer to the lake while the other patient was near the top of the bank at the road. The patient closest to the top was carried up the bank to the ambulance and transported to the soccer field at Young Park/White Bridge and airlifted. The patient nearest the lake was loaded on a nearby personal pontoon boat and taken to the same landing zone as the other patient. That patient was also airlifted. A firefighter drove the pontoon boat with a medic onboard.
Responding agencies include the Campbell County Rural Fire Service, EMS, Sheriff’s Office and EMA. (WLAF NEWS PUBLISHED – 07/19/2024-3PM)
