Homeward Bound Project volunteer Tamara Richardson Dasho shares Bear’s story\

Tamara Richardson Dasho and Bear
JACKSBORO, TN (SPECIAL TO WLAF) – Meet Bear. He is a 55 pound, two year old lab mix full of love waiting for his forever home. If you’re looking for a great family dog, look no further because Bear is the total package.
Bear is great with dogs, cats, and kids, too. This boy doesn’t meet a stranger. He does great riding in the car- you would never know he was there. Bear loves going for walks and sniffing the world around him. Did we mention he does well on a leash? He will walk right alongside you and not pull (he even heeled for me without asking). The only time he pulls is when he gets the zoomies from having so much fun being outside of his kennel.
Bear has so much love to give and will give you all of the kisses. He loves to lean into you when you pet him, and it’s the cutest thing.
He does great in the crate. He has never pottied or chewed anything in the house and is very gentle with younger kids. This boy is literally perfect.

Meet Bear, the very friendly dog.
This is Bear’s Story.
He has been in the shelter since Nov. 17, 2023… a little more than a half year. Before Bear ended up in the shelter, he was severely neglected and weighed only 30 pounds. He was dirty, malnourished, and his skin was rubbing off from laying in his own bodily fluids. When he came in, one eye was already half gone, because it had never been treated.
Bear is so forgiving. After all of this neglect, he is still the happiest boy you will ever meet. If it wasn’t for his appearance, you would never know the horrible things he went through. Bear has gone through so much in his short life and is ready to find his fur-ever home! Please consider reaching out to the animal shelter to adopt this boy.
As part of helping Bear find his fur-ever home, I wants to give whomever chooses to adopt him a $100 credit to use at The Dog Dasher. This can be for boarding, doggy daycare, drop-ins, or a dog walk. We know he loves his walks. We love Bear and just want him to find a loving home that he deserves.
The adoption center is open Tuesday – Saturday, Noon – 5:30 pm at 749 Towe String Road at Jacksboro next to the convenience center. The telephone number is 423-566-8018.
Don’t forget you can name your price on Bear and all other adoptable dogs at the shelter right now.
You can view all of their adoptable pets on Petfinder. Adoption applications can also be completed online. (WLAF NEWS PUBLISHED – 05/28/2024-6AM)
