Snodderly is celebrated as she retires again some 16 years later

Long time friends, Betty Snodderly and Randy Brown, share a hug Tuesday at Snodderly’s celebration.

LAFOLLETTE, TN (WLAF) – Today marks the end of a second career for Betty Snodderly. The sweet blue eyed lady who served for years as the executive director of the chamber of commerce is calling it a career for a second time. This time it’s from LUB.

Campbell Mayor Jack Lynch presented Betty Snodderly with a proclamation. “We’re both valley folks, grew up in the valley” said Lynch.

“This is the second retirement for Betty where I’ve been involved. When she retired from the chamber 16 years ago, I was on the chamber board,” said Kenny Baird, LUB General Manager. Baird addressed a conference room full of Snodderly’s family, friends and LUB co-workers came out Tuesday at 4pm to honor, thank and congratulate the 15-year LUB employee.

Baird spent a lot of his day yesterday trying to think of something that isn’t nice about Snodderly. “I tried to think of something bad to tell about her, but there’s nothing bad to tell about her,” said Baird.

“What am I gonna do? I’ve worked all my life,” said Betty Snodderly. Someone said “you can always come back.”

Prank phone calls from Baird and others at LUB were brought to light Tuesday. “She figured us out on her first day here. I called her telling her my outhouse was stopped up. She told me we didn’t service outhouses,” laughed Baird.

Betty Snodderly’s children and grandchildren joined the celebration on Tuesday at the LUB offices.

After all these years, there’s not anything she hasn’t heard. She’s heard it all over the LUB phones, according to Baird.

An emotional Snodderly told the crowd that she met the nicest people, her fellow LUB employees, and that their paths would likely have never crossed had she not come to work there. “I’m just appreciative being able to have been a part of this, LUB,” said Snodderly.

“Betty is a jewel of a person, an employee and to the community,” said Baird. (WLAF NEWS PUBLISHED – 05/01/2024-6AM)
