CARYVILLE, TN (WLAF) – Campbell County’s first inclusive playground, by some accounts, should have already been open and in operation. Ground was broken on the site across from Shoney’s in November. However, progress for the Caryville Cares Playground project has slowed to a crawl. The playground topic was briefly mentioned in Monday’s regular monthly meeting of the Town of Caryville Board of Mayor and Aldermen with the meeting being adjourned in session to address the latest playground concerns this evening.

At Monday’s meeting, Aldermen Josh Monday had two invoices from the Caryville Cares Playground project. The invoices total about $10,000 for work that has been done to get the playground ready for the installation of the playground equipment. The board voted to adjourn the meeting in session to meet with Brandon Johnson, chairman of the Caryville Cares Playground Committee, on Thursday night to discuss the playground and the invoices.

Today’s meeting is expected to begin at 7pm at the Caryville Municipal Building.
