LAFOLLETTE, TN (WLAF) – Recently, LaFollette Police Officer Anthony Mahar was on routine patrol when he saw a man walking on a dead end street, West Elm Street, near South 5th Street, pushing a small blue and pink girls bicycle. It was around midnight on Tue., April 9, when Mahar spoke with the man identified as Christopher Alan Thompson and asked him for identification.

Thompson asked the officer what he had done to which Officer Mahar responded that he stopped to talk to him due it being midnight and that he was an adult pushing a kid’s bicycle. Thompson responded that his son won it from church.

According to a report from the LaFollette Police Department, Officer Mahar asked Thompson if he had any weapons on him, and he responded that he had a knife clipped on his left pocket. The policeman then told Thompson he was going to pat him down for weapons and asked if there was anything that would poke or stick him, and he replied that he had a syringe on him. Mahar then asked if he had anything else on him, and he stated no. Mahar checked Thompson’s pocket and found a clear bag with a white crystal substance in it believed to be meth. He then found a black case that had a syringe and a tie off rope in it.

Thomspon, 35, homeless, LaFollette was charged with possession of schedule II controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia. (WLAF NEWS PUBLISHED – 04/18/2024-6AM)
