JACKSBORO, TN (WLAF) – We’ve all had that teacher who inspired us or helped in some way. That’s why WLAF and Eagle Tire Pros salute one of our hard working educators with a weekly feature. Teachers make a difference in their students lives each and every day. For many students, having a teacher who cares and goes that extra mile can be the difference in a successful education and graduation.

This week’s featured teacher is Amy Inman. She teaches English Language Arts and Social Studies at Jacksboro Elementary School and has been an educator for 15 years.

When she’s not working, Inman enjoys spending time with her family, including her daughter, Emma, a new granddaughter, Raelynn, and her niece, Chloe. She also enjoys traveling.

Amy Inman is Eagle Tire Pros Teacher of the Week. She teaches at Jacksboro Elementary School and is pictured with her family.

Inman was raised in Campbell County and graduated from CCHS in 2003. Afterwards she earned her bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education from Lincoln Memorial University in 2009. She earned her master’s degree in Curriculum and Instruction from Tusculum College in 2014.

Inman started her career in education in 2009 at LaFollette Elementary School as an assistant interventionist.

“I taught 1st grade at LES for five years. I moved to Jacksboro Elementary in 2016, where I have taught 4th grade ELA/Social Studies for the last eight years,” Inman said.

Inman knew from the beginning she wanted to become a teacher.

“The thought never crossed my mind to be anything other than a teacher. I loved playing school even before I was old enough to attend,” Inman said.

She also had some great educators over the years including Sharon Johnson, Wanda Guy, and Ken Bruce among her most memorable.

“Each of those educators were examples of not only how to teach, but also how students should be cared for,” Inman said.

These educators helped her foster her own teaching style.

“My favorite part of the job is when we are deep in a lesson, but the timer goes off to switch and the students ask for more time,” Inman said.

Her fellow co-workers are another plus to teaching in Campbell County.

“I have worked with some amazing people over the years. Jacksboro Elementary is among the hardest working people I know. From the custodial staff, office workers, cafeteria workers, assistants, our school counselor, our SRO, to teachers and administration, everyone works together to ensure that our students are cared for, protected, and educated every day,” Inman said.

Every Thursday, WLAF’s Charlotte Underwood features the WLAF – Eagle Tire Pros teacher of the week. That educator also receives a free oil change from Eagle Tire Pros.
