Campbell, 6th seed, faces 3rd seed Powell Wed. at 7:30 at Central in District 3-AAAA tourney

JACKSBORO, TN (WLAF) – It was senior night on Friday at Brown Court, as the Karns Beavers came to town to face off against your Cougars.

It was a back-and-forth first quarter. After trailing 10-5, Campbell, led in large part by Gavin Cox, Tyler Kitts, and Keegan Nelson, rallied for a 9-2 run to take a 14-12 lead against Karns. At the end of the first frame, Karns jumped back in front to lead the Cougars 16-14.

It was much of the same in the second quarter. Campbell out scored Karns 13-12 to trail by a point at the half 28-27.

Karns started to pull ahead in the third, but Campbell still kept the lead to single digits. At the end of the third quarter, the Cougars trailed Karns 41-32.

In the fourth, Campbell fought their hardest, but to no avail. Karns hung on for the win, 56-47.

Luke Browning and Gavin Cox led the Cougars in scoring with 14 points apiece. Tyler Kitts and Keegan Nelson both scored five points. Four points came from Will Croley. Jordan Day scored four points and Cole Miller chipped in two points.

The Cougars travel to Central for Round 1 of the district 3-4A tournament.
