JACKSBORO, TN (WLAF) – The Oak Ridge Wildcats came to John Brown Gym on Saturday to take on your Campbell County Cougars, who were fresh off of an electrifying win against Central on Friday.

Campbell started off cold, not scoring for the first two and a half minutes of the game. The Cougars’ first points came from a Gavin Cox long shot. The Orange-and-Blue hung with the Wildcats in the first quarter, trailing 19-14 at the end of the first.

From this point on however, Oak Ridge went full force steam ahead and never turned back. Oak Ridge kept expanding their lead throughout the second quarter. At the half, the Wildcats led Campbell County by 22, which, at the time, was their largest lead of the night.

Much of same continued in the third and fourth quarters. Oak Ridge did what they have done to the Cougars since 1999, and that is not let Campbell County experience victory:

When the buzzer sounded, Oak Ridge left John R. W. Brown Gymnasium with the win, 71-44.

Leading the scoring column for Campbell was Gavin Cox, who racked up 14 points, while 12 points came from Gavin Owens, your Local Realtor Gage Dople Player of the Game. Luke Browning tacked on 10 points. Jake Hatmaker scored 5 points. Cole Miller tallied two points, and Jordan Day had one point.

Up next for the Cougars is a journey through the Cumberland Gap Tunnel en route to Middlesboro High. The Cougars battle the Yellow Jackets in a boys only contest on Monday. The JV Cougars tip at 6 pm, and the varsity Cougars play at 7:30.
