Campbell rolls past Oneida Tuesday night at John Reynolds Woodson Brown Gym

JACKSBORO, TN (WLAF) – Two of Oneida’s 26 wins last year came at the expense of the Campbell Lady Cougars. That winning streak ended last night on Brown Court. The Lady Cougars pitched a shutout through the first six minutes, took command and never looked back in a 55 to 22 win.

It took all season to chalk up 14 wins a year ago, and it only took 16 games to match that mark this season. Campbell improves to 14 & 2 while Oneida slips to 9 & 5.

Jayden Kitts opened the scoring followed by back-to-back buckets from Saylor Hutcheson as Campbell built a 10-nothing lead before the Lady Indians found their range. Oneida scored seven of the next 10 points to eventually narrow the gap at 14-7 at the end of the first quarter.

Campbell opened the second quarter on a nine to two run to build its lead out to 21-9. First half threes for the Lady Cougars came from the hands of Carley Kitts, Preslee Chapman, Bella Lester and Saylor Hutcheson. The three from Hutch boosted Campbell ahead by its largest lead that stood as the halftime score of 34-16.

Oneida came out of the locker room cold. The Lady Indians managed only six points after halftime while Campbell tallied 21 second half points.

Jayden Kitts started the second half like she started the first; with points. This time it was a big three to open the scoring. Preslee Chapman had the other three in the second half. Campbell was ahead 47-18 after holding Oneida to two third quarter points.

Campbell outscored Oneida 8-4 in the final frame. The Lady Cougars won by 33 which ended up being their largest lead of the game on a night when they never trailed.

Lacey Pemberton’s 10 points were tops for Campbell while Freshman Preslee Chapman posted nine points followed by eight from Carley Kitts. Saylor Hutcheson and Bella Lester each had seven. Jayden Kitts had a five point night with Reagan Stanfill adding three. Three Lady Cougars, Reagan Davis, Destiny Rutherford and Aleah Woodson, each had two points.

Campbell travels to Clinton to face the arch rival Anderson Mavericks in a Friday nighter on Maverick Court. Live coverage begins at 6pm here over the WLAF-Doyle’s Tire Shop Sports Network.
