JACKSBORO, TN (WLAF) – The William Blount Governors travelled from Maryville on Tuesday to battle against your Cougars. Campbell, three and seven on the year, was in desperate need of a win. On the flip side, the eight and one William Blount Governors were looking to maintain a five-game winning streak.

Watch Clayton Carroll’s and Josh Parker’s call of the night of basketball on demand HERE over WLAF.

William Blount got out to a quick start, jumping in front of the Cougars by a score of 13-2 with 3:49 to go in the first frame.  Luke Browning would knock down a trey after a timeout to cut the lead to 13-5. Campbell trailed by 8 at the end of the first quarter, 20-12.

In the first two minutes of the second quarter, William Blount proceeded to outscore the Cougars 8 to 2. Following a couple of post buckets for Gavin Cox, Campbell diminished the lead back down to ten. William Blount however tacked on four more points to their lead, controlling the Cougars 35-21 at the half.

Much of the same continued in the fourth as William Blount poured it on the Cougars. At one point in the final frame, the Govs led the Cougars by 33. When the final horn sounded, William Blount left John Brown Gym with the W by a score of 77-51.

Unofficially, Gavin Cox led the Cougars in the scoring column with 15 points. Gavin Owens racked up 10. Luke Browning scored six points. Jordan Day and Brady Hatmaker had four points apiece. Ethan Dorton scored three. Will Croley, Logan Day, Gabe St. John , and Keegan Nelson all tallied two points.
