JACKSBORO, TN (WLAF) – The JV Lady Cougars, 1-0 on the year, faced off against two teams at John Brown Gym on Saturday; the Kingston Yellow Jackets and the Farragut Lady Admirals.

First up of two back-to-back opponents for the Lady Cougars was Kingston.

Preslee Chapman and Maggie Herrin were responsible for Campbell’s points in the first quarter. After one quarter, the Lady Cougars trailed Kingston 5-4.

Campbell outscored Kingston 9-4 in the second quarter leading the Yellow Jackets 13-9 at the half.

Kingston would cut the lead to three after the third quarter at 21-18.

In the fourth, Kingston would storm back to tie the game at 29 with just over 20 seconds to play. The Lady Cougars had the basketball and would have to scheme up some offense. Scheme up offense they did. Chapman drove down the lane, put up a shot off the glass, and scored as time expired to win the game 31-29.

Leading the Lady Cougars in scoring was Chapman with 10 points. Reagan Davis had racked up 8 points. Courtney Smith scored 6 points from the paint. Abby Paul tallied 5 points, and Maggie Herrin rounded out the scoring with two. Olivia Douglas and Gracelynn Chadwell played but didn’t make it into the scoring column.

In the second game, Farragut controlled the likely tired JV Lady Cougars, as there was only a four minute resting period between games. The Lady Admirals handed the Orange-and-Blue their first loss of the season.
