JACKSBORO, TN (WLAF) – The idea of holding church in a barn might be a throwback to another era. However, Pastor David Hicks revived the concept a few years back and is ready to host his annual event, a barn meeting, Oct. 11-13. That’s today, Thursday and Friday.

Hicks barn is not quite the type barn that perhaps comes to mind when most people think of a barn. There won’t be any sitting on bales of hay on a dirt floor or having to watch your step around the barnyard. The venue is quite pristine for a better word with folding chairs and an actual floor.

A longtime friendship is renewed as Steve Rinehart (left) and WLAF’s Big Josh Etter exchange hellos last May at the WLAF Studio.

Services are at 7pm on Wed., Oct. 11, Thurs., Oct. 12 and Fri., Oct. 12. Hicks will deliver messages along with headline minister Brother Steve Rinehart from Mt. Sheba Baptist Church in Weaverville, North Carolina, along with several other guest speakers.

Steve Rinehart, Big Josh Etter and David Hicks (left to right) shared some fun memories back in May at WLAF.

“The reason we held our barn meeting in late May, early June, is because we’re planning on having two. This one here in the fall is our second of the year,” said Hicks. The barn is located near the National Guard Armory at 843 Island Ford Road at Jacksboro. (WLAF NEWS PUBLISHED – 10/11/2023-6AM)
