JELLICO, TN (WLAF) – A Place to Grow Farm and Nursery is WLAF’s business of the week.  It is a small farm and nursery located in Jellico and is owned and operated by husband and wife team Travis and Leslee Lamb.

The farm and nursery opened its first season on September 9th and sold 200 mums that day! Their supply of home grown mums are now limited and anyone interested should check Facebook first to make sure mums are available.

A Place to Grow began as an idea the pair had been talking about since 2020, and then COVID happened, and they had to put their plans on the back burner.

The Lamb’s farm also features breathtaking views.

“Fast forward to spring of 2023, and we decided to finally do it and open our business, so we are now mum farmers,” Leslee Lamb said.

Both Travis and Leslee have strong ties to their community, and are always looking for ways to better the city of Jellico for young families living there.

“We both feel that as our business grows, we will be able to develop this into something for families here in Jellico and Campbell County to enjoy and love” Travis Lamb said, adding, “Our seven year old really enjoyed helping out and learning this past summer about growing mums.”

Raising their two daughters to “love home and value a good days work” is a goal for this Jellico family.

“This year is our first growing season, and we grew a specialty eye catching tri-color variety mum along with some gorgeous solid colors as well, in all we grew close to four hundred mums. Next year we look forward to offering more goods for fall displays and we plan on hosting a family day here at the farm,” Leslee Lamb said.

Promoting what’s available in their small community of Jellico is an important goal for the Lambs, and they also plan to work with some other local businesses and farmers to “bring more visibility to what all is offered here in our small mountain community.”

“Shopping local and supporting our small business owners is how we keep these rural mountain communities alive and it’s how we continue to raise our families and continue growth for Campbell County. It’s an honor to serve our customers and offer them a product that’s locally grown and that we are proud of. These mums have been purchased for businesses to use in their fall displays, churches for homecomings, weddings, gifts to others, and to adorn the homes of the people that love celebrating what home means to them and the fall season,” Leslee Lamb said.

A Place to Grow is located at 1920 S Main Street in Jellico. For more information, check them out on Facebook and “follow along on the farm.” (WLAF NEWS PUBLISHED – 09/22/2023-6AM)
