Mr. Lawrence Albert Thornton, age 90, of LaFollette went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, August 20, 2023.  He was a proud United States Army Veteran, a Member of Calvary Baptist Church, and was retired after many years of service with the State of Tennessee. Preceded in death by his parents, Fred Thornton and Eva Thornton Clair, grandson, Steven Thornton, brothers, Henry Thornton and Kenneth Thornton.

Survived by his wife of 23 years Bertie Thornton; sons Larry (Donna) Thornton, Darryl (Janet) Thornton, and Greg (Shannon) Thornton; grandchildren, Christy Carroll (Will), Taylor Weber (Scott), Tanner Thornton (Allison); great-grandchildren, Zeke Carroll, Lucas Thornton and Laura Weber; sisters, Mary Chapman and Naomi Swain.

The family will receive friends on Friday, August 25, 2023, from 5:00-7:00 p.m, at Walters Funeral Home.  Funeral services will follow at 7:00 P.M. with Rev. James Heatherly and Bro. Paul Cordell officiating.   Family and friends will meet Saturday August 26, 2023, at Peabody Cemetery for a 10:00 a.m. graveside service.   Military Honors will be conducted by the Honor Guard of Campbell County.  Walters Funeral Home of LaFollette is honored to be serving the family of Mr. Lawrence A. Thornton.
